Elbert Brown

Matt: 20:16
“So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but the chosen are few”.
A self taught musician from the age of 6, who was on the road spreading the Gospel with his band by the age of 12. He became a self taught barber by the age of 17, with an elite clientele of NBA players who would literally come to his home for services.
Being the baby of the bunch in a large family will often get you lost in the crowd. But Brown always found unconventional ways to stand out, make an impression, and exceed expectations.
Though his deeds caused his life to take the scenic route to where it is today, by the Grace of God he made it. The prayers of his mother shook heaven to give him one more opportunity to get back on the right road, and he did not disappoint.
Through all of his trials, he has found his purpose.
Today he is a loving husband, a proud father, and a doting grand father of 4 beautiful grandchildren.
He is an upstanding citizen in the community, using his experiences to warn young men to avoid pitfalls that can damage or end their lives.
He is a gainfully employed Warehouseman, who is a standout at his company due to his exemplary work ethic and dependability.

They called him “One Round Brown “, but he has more than exceeded that!
He’s the ultimate overcomer and today we give him his flowers.
Felicia Moore - Beck

A graduate of Moler Barber College is where Felicia began her journey to entrepreneurship. Felicia is dedicated to her family and community. A wife, mother and grandmother she is a determined young woman that facilitates love and success in all that she undertakes to do. Using her God-given gifts and talents, she is known as a top-notch professional in her field of work. Felicia uses her barber and styling skills to garner respect throughout the Sacramento Region and beyond. It is often that people ask for hair advice, compliment the hair styles she does on various clients, and if she is available to take on more clients. This was very evident when she was recruited as a consultant for a startup business in Africa, that required hands on implementation. Thus, traveling to Africia on several occasions to ensure the fundamental framework for full implementation was successful.
Not only is she a licensed barber/stylist for over 32 years, Felicia’s pursuit of perfecting her craft has led to completing certification as a barber trainer. This has led her to be an on-the-job trainer for those initially out of barber college and cosmetology school. Felicia’s affluent skills become a value add to the salons she has either supported or managed.
Felicia’s love of family and dedication has made her a mainstay in various family events. She is solicited for her creativity and ability to support family functions. Her talent as an event planner and designer has led to requests from friends’ aunts, uncles’ cousins, client and oh yeah mom and pop as well. This not only applies to family events, but her talent has been recognized by her clients and customers. This was evident when asked to oversee and conduct more than one full wedding event over the years.
Felicia has raised funds by walking in community events such as the walk for cancer and the MLK recognition. It is commonplace for Felicia to provide services for those in need without question or obligation. She has volunteered at shelters to assist with styling, cutting and clothing those less fortunate. She also helps families during their time of grief. Making funeral sprays for the church and the casket, this included doing the deceased, hair and makeup to lighten the family’s load.
Her hardest task came this year when she had to bury her youngest son Darrian Robinson, which is a tough job for anyone. She withheld the storm of life and continues on looking to the hill which cometh her help. Based on her love, willingness to go above and beyond to assist others, it is my pleasure and one of my proudest moments to submit and support Felicia Moore-Beck as a recipient of this award.
We see you and recognize your sacrifice, your work!

Jackie Doyle

Two distinct examples that highlight how Jacqueline Doyle goes above and beyond to support
and uplift her family members are:
I’d like to start with a quote that her brother said to me when he was referring to Jacqueline.
Edward said, “A rising tide lifts all boats.” Not only is Jacqueline the tide, but she’s also the water that
nourishes the garden.
One example where Jacqueline goes above and beyond to support and uplift her family members is when she stepped up and co-created a committee of family members who commit themselves throughout the year planning for an annual family celebration called “The Bottley
Ball.”
Throughout the year she works tirelessly facilitating and orchestrating the monthly meetings.
During the meetings she has manifested the unique abilities to not only collaborate but demonstrate love, support, and compassion to find meaningful ways to accomplish shared goals. For example, creating the zoom links, teaching family members how to use zoom and up to date technologies.
At the meetings she nominates herself to find the venue and organize the vendors and assist in facilitating the process of sharing responsibilities. After the meetings she collaborates with the committee to disseminate the information on the family’s website (that she co-created), sells the tickets for the ball and provides oversight for the sales.
She also developed newfound strategies to promote the Bottley Ball by creating unique ways and opportunities that curates' family bonding time. For example, over the summer she opened her home and hosted family movie nights. Here family members brought their children and lawn chairs and bonded. Throughout the year, Jacqueline is hosting, giving, or incorporating ways family members can celebrate and empower themselves and others not just to promote the Bottley Ball, but family love.
My nominee has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting family members during difficult periods. Last year when her mother was diagnosed with cancer Jacqueline was the first and last one at the hospital. When her mother was released, she opened her home and provided personal care and support. She met with
doctors and nurses to learn how to provide adequate care. She reached out to other
family members and friends that wanted to care and provided a schedule that allowed
them to love and support her mother. After her mother passed unexpectedly, she made the arrangements for her transition and home going celebration.
A couple of weeks later Jacqueline found the strength to finalize her mother’s living
arrangements by moving her belongings out of her house, moving her daughter and her daughter’s family across the country to Virginia, and moving her grandmother, aunt and niece into a new apartment.
As you can see Jacqueline is continuously going above and beyond supporting and
uplifting her family members and I am truly honored to nominate her for these reasons.
There are countless memories that I would love
For instance, when my grandmother faced a serious health crisis, they provided
invaluable assistance by coordinating medical appointments, managing household
tasks, and offering emotional support. Their selfless dedication ensured that her
grandmother received the care and attention she needed.
Briefly explain how the nominee has made outstanding contributions to their field or
profession, reflecting positively on our family name
Jacqueline juggles three professions. She provides press care to her son who is
diagnosed with Autism, a professional hairstylist, and a renowned vocalist. Jacqueline
has not only excelled in her professions but has also used her skills to uplift her family and community.
Her dedication to her craft is evident. When her clients leave her chair, not only do they look beautiful but feel beautiful. She empowers and supports them by providing a safe
space that allows them a unique opportunity to share and experience a complete and
transforming makeover from the inside out.
Jacqueline’s gifts extend beyond hairstyling and caretaking, as she is sought-after
vocalist. Jacqueline’s performances showcase her passion for music and her ability to
inspire and entertain audiences. Her professionalism and poise reflect positively on our family name, making us all proud of her accomplishments.
Give details how the nominee embodies the core values and spirit of our family in their everyday life, setting a positive example for others.
Many women are only seen for their beauty, very few are known because they’re a
beautiful person. Jacqueline embodies the very essence of love and respect. She sets
the standard of how to support one another by showing up in moments of need. She’s a
woman of high value and leads with love. Every day she checks in with her children to remind them they are loved. Picking her grandmother up and taking her to daily
appointments and church on Sunday is a part of her routine schedule. Everyday
Jacqueline pursues and finds a way to love and embrace a Bottley. Whether it’s a phone call, a text message, or even a zoom meeting she is blazing a trail and leaving a path to
follow.
that those coming after her are proud
Jacqueline is rare. A once in a lifetime woman. She sets a standard of exceptional
living. She empowers others, leads with integrity, and challenges societal norms. She’s humble and kindhearted and pursues her passions. Not only does she talk the talk, but
she walks the walk. She’s beautiful, she’s bold, she’s a “Bottley,
